Teamwork makes a difference

I have not written about teamwork in quite a while, and it is so important. As I reflect on the partnership, I realize that almost everything I have ever accomplished has required some team effort.
Work together as a team to facilitate the opportunity.
The roof over my head and the food on the table allowed me to focus on school and life. My parents working as a team, made that happen. Of course, I did not think of it that way back then. Only now, as I play the role of husband and dad, I realize the team effort it takes to support a child’s upbringing.
Team sports are an excellent example of teamwork. I think this is where I learned the value, responsibility, and joy of being on a team. I knew the discipline of practice and the importance of just showing up by being on a team.
Accountability is a word that comes to mind when I think of teams.
Teammates counted on my contribution, and I learned not to let them down. Accountability is a massive lesson in teamwork. I learned to listen to a coach. I learned to play a position and to let others play their role without interfering.
I learned patience. I learned how to pursue victory and be a good sport in defeat. I learned the importance of preparation.

You learn a lot by being on different types of teams.

I mostly played soccer, but I also played in a marching band. These two very different kinds of groups came with their own challenges and opportunities.

Teams prepared me for the workplace.
Working with others is very much a teamwork thing. Working for a boss is very much like having a coach. Assigned tasks are very much like practice and drills.
Teamwork is a skill that applies to every part of life.
Teamwork is being part of a collective effort that pursues a common goal. This definition fits a family. This definition includes a workplace. This definition fits a bowling league.

“Teamwork makes the dream work.”

The key is to play on the right team and have the right goals. Nothing truly great is accomplished alone. If you want to do something “big,” it will require a team to get it done.

Teamwork is something to develop and build with leadership. Every leader needs a team to lead, and every team needs a good leader to follow.

Teamwork and leadership go hand in hand. Work at being a great leader and join great teams. Success is on a great team pursuing great goals.

Join a great team and make something great happen. Teamwork makes a difference.

What team will you join?

Remember, you owe it to the team and yourself to give 100%.
So don’t join too many teams and spread yourself too thin.   Get on the groups that allow you to be all in and get off the stuff that prevents you from doing your very best.

Your family is your team. Be a star player on that team and never give up. Play to win and support your teammates through all circumstances. Teamwork makes a difference!
