Individual Effort Makes for Great Teamwork
Individual effort makes for great teamwork.
When everyone focuses on their contribution to the team, teamwork increases exponentially.
I remember showing up for the first day of soccer practice one season, and I was ultimately out of shape. I could not run for more than five minutes during exercise.
The team drills and workouts helped me, BUT I needed to put individual effort above and beyond the team workouts to catch up. The action was my responsibility; without that particular commitment, I would not have pulled my weight on the team. I would have sat on the bench while the rest of the group tried to pick up the slack.
I would have been the weakest link on a team that was committed to excellence. Each individual taking ownership of their role on the team makes it possible for the team to succeed and win.
Great teamwork requires a massive effort from everyone on the team.
Goalies need to be goalkeepers, and defenders need to defend. Knowing your role and pursuing excellence in that skill set is everything if you plan to have great teamwork.
It is the same principle regardless of the team you are on. Sports, business, charity, working crews, and any other group you are on require your effort to succeed.
Teamwork happens when every team member is good at their role, and teams win.
If you do not have this in place, you probably lack a strong leader or coach who can get individuals to act as a team.
Take some time to think through your situation and write down the things you need to change to move yourself and the team forward. Success is the goal, and it will take a whole team to reach it.
Discipline and daily habits set you apart.
- Be the hardest worker on the team
- Create daily habits that will make you better
- Encourage others by your example
- Learn new skills every chance you get
- Have a growth mindset
- Listen to people who can help you
- Have a goal to win
- Attitude matters – have a great one
It is enjoyable to be part of a team, and it is awesome being on a winning team. Work hard and enjoy the journey.
You can accomplish things as an individual and achieve bigger things when you work with a team.
